An introduction to the use of data and analysis in sport

It is an integral part of the work in the financial markets to use data and analyze data statistically. In recent years, we have seen that the methods used for the use of data and analysis have increasingly gained traction in the world of sports as well. In the world's largest basketball league, the NBA, almost all teams have established large analysis departments in recent years, and decisions are made, e.g. recruitment of new players takes place without the players' data being analyzed thoroughly. And we see the same e.g. in Danish football, where more and more super league clubs now employ data analysts. In this workshop, economist Lars Christensen takes the participants on a journey through the use of data and analysis within various sports and gives the participants an introduction to "Moneyball". The workshop is suitable for boards and management in sports clubs and sports companies, and can be tailored to suit the club/company's challenges and tasks. In addition to advising on and researching global economics and financial markets, Lars Christensen also advises on sports economics and data and participates as an external lecturer in a research project on digitization within sports at the Department of Digitization at CBS. Lars Christensen is a board member of Denmark's largest basketball club Falcon Basketball.
