The fear of being rejected for who you are? But what's the worst that can happen - that others reject you - OR that you reject yourself? Can you see the difference? In this lecture, Luise Thye-Østergaard does NOT talk about the brain and the way the amygdala reacts to irrational danger. Instead, we talk about how you can train your courage and overcome your fear, so that the amygdala eventually learns that there is no danger in fewer people. Do you dare?

Luise is brave enough to stand up for herself.

She has built up her courage - overcame her fears and today experiences the joy of standing up for herself in private as well as professionally.
She has embarked on a journey – driven by a single question – who am I?
The first thing she learned was that she was anything but her upbringing, anything but her titles, anything but other people's expectations and not least anything but society's norms.
In the summer of 2017, she appeared in several Danish media with what she calls the love experiment - where she lives with 2 men, one she is married to, the other she shares a bed with.
She divided the waters - was loved and hated but she stood up for what she is - for one reason only, namely that she is passionate about inspiring others to find the courage to stand up for themselves and their own needs.
Because she has experienced firsthand the joy it brings.
AND – as she herself says:
"I don't think many choose our solution, but if they can look at me and say to themselves, if Luise is brave enough to do that, then I'm also brave enough to do the little thing that makes the big thing difference to me.”

I have embarked on a journey of a lifetime – drawn by a single question – who am I?
First I found that I was not all my titles and all that I had achieved - NO - I was something completely different if I stopped and gave myself time and space to feel what my feelings were actually telling me – then I experienced sides of myself that I had suppressed, held back, or quite simply had never seen. I saw sides of myself that I couldn't see fit into my self-image and the society I live in - BUT I found the courage and overcame the fear that others would put me, my children and my family off. I stood by me - and in that space I experienced a new strength, a new creativity and an authenticity that could only emerge if I found the courage to be me. Me regardless of norms, expectations and ideas - just me.
So who am I – who are you? This is the question that Luise Thye-Østergaard asks, because the more you stand by what is you, the better version of yourself you become in your private and professional life.

And every single time the answer has been one where I have almost only been able to pull on the smiley face. Simply because my fear has been irrational.
I learned to understand how the power of thought and emotional understanding go hand in hand when it comes to driving fear into the ground and maintaining calm. A calmness that is essential for us to be present as who we are both privately and professionally.

Most people hide their feelings without even realizing it, and why? This is because we have an innate mechanism that when we get upset, our masculine anger kicks in and protects the wounded feminine self. But what happens if we understand our feelings and get better at putting them into words, can we avoid getting angry to a greater extent? YES look – I claim that.
I, Luise Thye-Østergaard, have experienced what a joy it has been for me to learn to understand my feelings, so that I can stand by them and thereby stand by me in my own half of the court. And just staying in one's own half of the court makes communication with other people far easier, far more caring and far more appropriate - in private life as well as professionally.
So now the question for you is: How is communication?

One day I was standing in the kitchen looking forward to my husband coming through the door. And the moment he walks in the door, I get angry at him - absolutely for no reason. Precisely because of this, an otherwise happy man became angry with me. The fact that he got angry with me made me so startled and so sad that I had to say sorry. Just give me 5-10 minutes, I just need to figure out why I got angry when I was actually standing in the kitchen looking forward to you coming home.
It dawned on me that I was envious of him, here I was stirring the meat pots and happy he came home from work and had made money. I wanted to too - but only at the moment when it became clear to me that it was my envy that had made me angry, we could have a quiet conversation about how we could solve it together. And this is where I want to go - we must dare to put our feelings into words BUT first we need to understand what it is that our feelings are trying to tell us.

When I, Luise Thye-Østergaard, suddenly found myself without work because I had been fired, I experienced firsthand how I met new people who asked me, "What do you do?" And when I honestly answered "I've been fired and am out of a job." Then in many cases there was complete silence and people looked away.
It started with a feeling of shame in me, but I quickly realized that I was much more than the job that had said goodbye to me. I was more and more than my titles and what I had achieved in my life - but how could I put into words who I was without my titles?
That question became my driving force, to set out on my life's journey driven by a single question – who am I?
